This programme facilitates you developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours to be a high-performing Executive Leader.

Who is this for?

The National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) is for those who are, or aspiring to become, executive headteachers and multi-academy trust (MAT) chief executive officers (CEOs). You should be, or aspire to be, an executive headteacher or CEO of a MAT with responsibility for leading across several schools.

What does it include?

What will you learn?

Each of the NPQ’s feature the same six content areas, however the knowledge and skills within a content area increases in sophistication, depth and breadth progressively through each of the NPQ levels

  • Working in partnership

  • Managing resources and risks

  • Increasing capability

Final assessment

You will:

  • design a sustainable business development strategy for your organisation, analysing the benefits, costs and risks of different options

  • lead a project to improve progress and attainment in several schools

Through these two projects, you will need to demonstrate your competence through an assessment linked to the knowledge and skills set out in the 6 content areas.

What does it involve?

EMLC will deliver NPQEL via:
  • Two day residential, overview briefing outlining course content and expectations, available support and assessment criteria

  • Four face-to-face days masterclasses delivered by business experts and leaders

  • Opportunity to attend additional masterclasses by field expert

  • Support for school-based improvement projects with interactive sessions

  • Opportunities for discussion and debate with peers and active support from colleagues

  • Opportunities to stimulate and challenge thinking alongside access to five online course resources, facilitated coaching, skype sessions, peer learning and social media links
